Updating Michigan’s Graduation Standard

Did you know…

  • Michigan’s current graduation standard is twenty years old?

  • Under this graduation standard, nearly three-quarters of Michigan high school students did not meet the state’s college and career readiness benchmark in 2024-25?

  • More than one in four students are chronically absent in Michigan public schools?

What’s the solution?

71% of Michigan districts under-perform in graduation rates.

Launch Michigan is working on a new graduation standard that will ensure all high school students are better prepared for work and life. The MEG Graduation Standard reimagines high school around four core components:

  1. Rigorous Academics aligned to life and work demands.

  2. Career-Focused Education for all students.

  3. Multiple avenues to postsecondary success.

  4. Flexibility through mastery, allowing students to demonstrate readiness in different ways.

Get involved.

Launch Michigan will continue to work with policymakers, educators, families and business leaders to bring the MEG Graduation Standard to life and ensure a thoughtful, transparent implementation process.
