There are five tenets guiding the partnership's work.

We’re in this together.

We created our education system together, and everyone has a role to play in improving it.

Many of us have participated in efforts that we believed would improve education but, so far, they have not moved the needle enough.

We want to do significantly better for every student, every school, and our state.

Other places with similar challenges have figured out how to make education better by working together and applying best-practice research.

Michigan can too! We can be a leader in educational excellence.

We agree that the issues we’re facing require a sense of urgency and are committed to immediate action.

At the same time, we understand that some of the solutions are not easy and will take time. That’s why we’re in this for the long haul.

We know that every public policy issue has a financing component that must be considered.

Right now, however, we don't have answers to all the funding questions. What we do have is a willingness to come to the table with open minds and work together to ensure that the resources are available to provide for an equitable, student-centered education system and funding model.
